WhiteUI.Store published this on 4 November 2024. The page’s structured data says 2024-11-04. They sell UI kits and design systems. Gumroad had been the checkout for six years. The first sales were in December 2018.
The post is a customer announcement. It does not describe an import. Lemon Squeezy’s Gumroad migration doc is a different procedure, and WhiteUI does not say they ran it. The Gumroad → Lemon Squeezy playbook sits between those two. Read both before you tell buyers their subscriptions moved.
Why they left
In October they got an email from Gumroad. They quote it: PayPal had suspended Gumroad’s use of PayPal, so Gumroad could no longer pay out to PayPal accounts. After looking into it, WhiteUI says PayPal payments on Gumroad were temporarily disabled. A buyer could not purchase, or pay a subscription, with PayPal.
Fees are the second reason. Bundles and subscriptions had been useful Gumroad updates. A later increase in transaction fees was not. They do not print the old rate or the new one.
The third reason is the Gumroad interface. Design changes no longer matched the WhiteUI site.
Lemon Squeezy won, in their telling, because it handles subscriptions and product delivery, and because checkout fits their site. No fee comparison appears in the post.
What happens to old buyers
They tell customers the switch is seamless, then they explain a split.
Existing orders and account information stay in the Gumroad account. Purchased files stay downloadable there. Log in at Gumroad and open the download section. WhiteUI says they will keep supporting those products on Gumroad.
The next sentence says all new releases and updates will appear on “this platform.” The paragraph has been talking about Gumroad, and the post is the move to Lemon Squeezy. The sentence does not name the store that receives new files. I am not resolving it for them.
There is no CSV, no license-key import, and no count of subscribers.
What Lemon Squeezy says can move
Their help page, which I read separately, supports three imports from a Gumroad account: products, customers, and license keys.
Subscriptions have no direct path. The workaround they suggest is to ask subscribers to cancel on Gumroad and start a new subscription on Lemon Squeezy when the next bill would have hit.
The sales path is manual. Export from the Gumroad sales page. Email the CSV to Lemon Squeezy. They aim to import it within three business days. A large file gets an agreed import date so you can tell customers when to switch. They say automation is still to come.
After that import you still type in, by hand, the product description, media, files, and variants. They tell you to test the store before it is the live checkout.
Buyers who need old orders on the new platform go to app.lemonsqueezy.com/my-orders and use the email they used on Gumroad. Lemon Squeezy sends a magic link. That covers historical orders that were imported, plus later Lemon Squeezy orders.
WhiteUI’s customer message is the other branch. Files stay on Gumroad. They never say they sent a CSV.
What I would copy
Tell existing buyers where old files live before you change the buy button. WhiteUI’s answer is Gumroad, indefinitely, plus ongoing support there.
If you do want history on Lemon Squeezy, export the sales CSV and budget three business days, longer if they assign you a date. Then fill in descriptions, media, files, and variants yourself. The import does not bring those.
Do not promise subscribers a silent move. Lemon Squeezy’s doc says they re-subscribe at the next cycle. WhiteUI’s post never claims they did that, and it never gives a fee number you can quote.
