A cybersecurity firm kept HubSpot Marketing while moving CRM to Salesforce

Modelit's 2023 case study. An unnamed North American cybersecurity company left HubSpot's free CRM for Salesforce and kept Marketing Hub. Export limits and different tables drove the manual work. No record counts or dollar figures.

This is a Modelit case study, dated 2023. Modelit is the Salesforce partner. The client is unnamed. The page says a small to mid-sized North American cybersecurity company, selling security tools for other software platforms. A Salesforce account executive introduced them.

They had run CRM and marketing in HubSpot. The CRM tier in the story is the free one. As they hired people who already knew Salesforce, that free CRM stopped matching how they wanted to sell. They still wanted HubSpot Marketing Hub. The project was CRM data and CRM process into Salesforce, with marketing left where it was.

The HubSpot → Salesforce playbook is the property map, the IDs, and the sandbox load. Modelit describes the translation problem and the meeting rhythm. They do not publish a row count, a property list, or a price.

What was hard

Modelit’s approach was to learn Salesforce’s objects and habits, rather than rebuild HubSpot screens inside Salesforce. Leads moved first, so lead capture still had a home.

They call the volume large and the shape messy. HubSpot’s export limits turned a lot of that into manual work. The page does not say which export cap they hit, or whether they used the API.

Tables did not line up. Relationships differed. The way each product stores a product value differed. Someone had to reconcile those before a Salesforce row meant the same thing as the HubSpot row.

Mariela Sica, a Salesforce administrator at Modelit, puts the gap in one line. HubSpot speaks HubSpot, and Salesforce speaks Salesforce. Modelit’s job was to translate.

They ran regular check-ins and a weekly demo. The demo was how the client saw a bad row in the same week it was loaded, instead of at the end.

What they say the client got

Modelit says the client gained tighter control of the sales cycle, heavier reporting, and stronger compliance and security. Salesforce automation and a wider set of analytics are the features they name. They say the business ran more efficiently afterward.

Those are the partner’s words. There is no baseline report, no pipeline number, and no hours saved. The client is not quoted, except through Modelit’s retelling.

Marketing staying on HubSpot is the design, not a leftover. If you need one timeline of a person from ad click to closed deal, this write-up does not show how that join works after the split.

What I would copy

Decide which HubSpot product is leaving. This client kept Marketing Hub. A full HubSpot shutdown is a different project, with forms, emails, and ads in scope. Modelit scoped CRM.

Put a weekly demo on the calendar before the first load. Their reason is practical. Relationship and product-value mismatches show up when a salesperson looks at a record, and they show up late if you batch the review.

Expect hand work where the export tool stops. The page is vague on the limit and specific on the effect. Budget people, not only an import wizard.

The HubSpot → Salesforce playbook is the field map they never printed. Use Modelit’s page for the split between Marketing Hub and CRM, and for the translation quote. Treat every efficiency claim as the implementer’s.
